My name is Jean-Luc MEGE, I am 44, French, freelance autodidact
and professional photographer.
This site will present you part of my photographic work completed
since more than 15 years and I hope it will hold your attention.
As you will see, my main asset remains in my great versatility to
treat all kinds of subjects.
My field of predilection being the human, portrait, the report and
the press magazine, I had nevertheless to adapt during many years
to the requests made by my reference magazine :
the Figaro Magazine ; the fields were as varied as different: people
portraiture, portraits of leaders, artists, fashion photography, food and gastronomy, tourism, architecture, home design,
corporate, industry, art, illustrations...
I sometimes accept to cover weddings with a own unique style, photo-journalistic
one, which means less posed
photographies and more natural ones...
During 12 years, my only school was that of the ground with only
one rule: no right to the error and give the best of myself on each entrusted subject and assignment. The publication
of the magazine depended on it.
(so, failure was not an option)
My pronounced taste for traveling and adventure brought me several
times on rallys raids (Paris-NordKapp, Paris-Dakar, Formula One),
but it is especially a certain way of seeing things, more humanistic
and a real desire to help the others and to change the World, which
pushed me several times to be left on grounds war and conflicts
such as:
Lebanon (Beirut), Bosnia (Sarajevo), Croatia (Dubrovnik), Iraq or
Palestine. I had the great opportunity to follow thus,
during 4 years, one of the biggest french humanitarian association
named “EquiLibre”. Once this one disappeared, in 1999,
I left to carry out reports on my account with the aim of setting
up my own humanitarian association. One of them enabled me to discover
one of the last leprosarium, in Akata Djokpé and Nyuiemabou
in Togo. A great and nice experience.
As for my magazine (the Figaro Rhone-Alpes), it unfortunately disappeared
three months after 911, in December 2001. I decided to proceed in
this way as an independent photographer, always with the passion
for photography and the willpower to testify of the beauty, but
sometimes oh the horrors of our World...
I seek since to develop all forms of collaborations with foreign
companies and magazines. These collaborations could take forms as
various as : foreign correspondent, photographic exhibition, patronage,
direct control of report, etc.
I currently live in New York and Lyon (France), a city located at
the heart of France, at only 2 hours train from Paris, Marseilles
or Geneva. I work thus in all the Rhone-Alps area which covers the
departments of the Rhône, (Lyon) of Drôme, (Valence,
Montélimar), of Ardeche, (Annonay, Privas, Aubenas, Vallon
Pont d'Arc), of Ain, (Bourg en Bresse), of Savoy (Chambery) and
High Savoy,(Chamonix), of Isère, (Grenoble).
I am 1 hour from high tourist places such as Drôme of Provence,
Ardeche, Burgundy, the Alps...
Equipped for 8 years in numerical photograph (digital photography),
I am able to answer any request quickly in report, as well as in
photo final improvements
and transmission via Internet. I can also work in studio for fashion
pictures, headshots, formats to 6 X 7 cm, color and black &
white. Lastly, I speakFrench, English and Spanish.
